
SCENE 6: THE SIGHTING - HARP HILL
Harp Hill, lower field. Kevin has
taken himself off to practice his
lines for the presentation, he has
his cue cards with him.
KEVIN
...And I am KEVIN. Kevin. Why can I say it now?
I am KEVIN.
(Vocal exetcise)
Badaga bordorgor boodoogoo bordorgor. Okay, now
just imagine Penny is watching. 'Thank you Pat,
I am Levin Klark, Kluvin Urgh! I can't do this.
I can't.
A football rolls on stage. Dylan's
voice is heard but he is not seen.
DYLAN
Oi mate, kick us the ball!
KEVIN
Eerr yep.
He picks it up.
KEVIN
I don't think I can kick it over, is it OK if I
throw it?
DYLAN
What?
KEVIN
I'm going to attempt to throw the ball over the
fence.
DYLAN
Right.
(Beat)
Just hurry up, yeah?
KEVIN
I'm actually not sure that my throw will
achieve the desired velocity required to make
it over the fence.
DYLAN
Oh for fuck sake.
With great ease Dylan, scales the
fence grabs the ball and jumps
back over. Suddenly Kevin clocks
that Dylan looks exactly like him,
Dylan hasn't batted an eyelid at
Kevin.
KEVIN
How did you...? Hang on, wait, wait! You!
What's your name? How...?
(Shouting)
Where did you come from??
Kevin rushes to look through a gap
in the fence, the TVs on the set
play footage of Dylan catching the
ball, doing keep ups and flirting
with the girls. We are seeing what
Kevin is seeing.
KEVIN
SOMETHING HAS CHANGED THE UNIVERSE,
SOMETHING HAS FLIPPED A SWITCH, AND STUCK ME IN REVERSE,
I'M APPREHENSIVE, BUT I'M SHAKING WITH SUSPENSE,
WHO IS THE 'ME' BEHIND THE FENCE?
I SAW A GUY WHO LOOKED LIKE ME,
BUT HE WAS COOL AND STRONG, AS I COULD NEVER BE,
CAN I THINK LOGICALLY AND CHANNEL MR SPOCK,
NOW THAT I'M COMING OUT OF SHOCK?
SUDDENLY I'M FLYING AND MY THOUGHTS ARE MOVING FAST!
TOTALLY UNTETHERED FROM MY FUTURE OR MY PAST.
WORK THE PROBLEM 'TIL I KNOW HOW THIS HAS COME TO BE,
HOW SOMEONE THAT I'VE NEVER MET COULD LOOK SO MUCH LIKE ME?
COULD IT BE NOW?
COULD IT BE ME?
HAVE I JUST STUMBLED ON SOME NEW TECHNOLOGY?
COULD IT BE NOW? COULD IT BE TRUE?
AND IF THE WORLD WILL GIVE ME TIME ENOUGH,
I'LL FIGURE OUT HOW I AM ME AND YOU!

is spoken.
PAT
There you are! Why are you staring at the
fence?
KEVIN
He looked like me Pat, no, not like me, he was
me! From the other side of the fence, there. It
was like looking in the mirror, like staring at
myself.
PAT
Who does? What are you saying?! THIS IS SO
EXCITING!
Sung.
KEVIN
THERE MUST BE A REASON IN THE RHYME,
WHY WOULD THIS HAVE TO BE A RIFT IN SPACE AND TIME?
PAT
COULD IT BE DOPPELGÄGER'S? HAVE YOU BEEN REPLACED?
KEVIN
HAS OUR DIMENSION BE DISPLACED?
PAT
(Spoken)
Almost certainly! Duh!
KEVIN
I HAVE TO FIND A REASON FOR THIS DOUBLE LIGHTENING STRIKE!
IT CAN'T BE COINCIDENCE, WE LOOK TOO MUCH ALIKE,
AND AS MY FEVERED BRAIN DEDUCTS THE PROBABILITY,
I'M SPINNING WITH EXCITEMENT AT THE POSSIBILITY!

Pat and Kev go into sci-fi role
play, mock American accents - like
a scene straight out of Star Trek.

KEVIN

KEVIN

KEVIN
